What we do
At Heathwell, we work across a wide range of emotional, relational, and psychological difficulties. Our team brings together therapists with different areas of expertise, allowing us to support individuals, couples, adolescents, and families with varied needs. The sections below outline the areas we specialise in, with links to more detailed information.
Couples Therapy
We have four couples therapists, all with specialised training in couples and relationship therapy. We work with partners experiencing communication difficulties, conflict, infidelity, emotional distance, low or lost desire, sexual difficulties, and uncertainty about whether to stay together. Our therapists also have experience working with neurodiverse couples and long-term relationship dynamics, supporting couples to understand patterns, improve communication, and make informed decisions about their relationships.
Psychosexual Therapy
We provide psychosexual therapy for individuals and couples experiencing difficulties with desire, arousal, orgasm, sexual pain, intimacy, or sexual confidence. Our therapists offer a respectful, non-judgmental space to explore sensitive concerns, including those linked to trauma, health conditions, relationship distress, or shame. Psychosexual therapy supports greater understanding, communication, and connection in intimate lives.
Single Session Therapy
Single session therapy creates a focused space for individuals and couples who want support around a specific issue, decision, or moment of difficulty. This approach can be particularly helpful when something feels urgent or stuck, offering clarity, perspective, and practical next steps without the expectation of ongoing work.
Relational Trauma
We offer therapy for individuals working through relational trauma, including attachment wounds, childhood emotional neglect, and the impact of past relationships on current ways of relating. Our therapists support clients in understanding how early experiences continue to shape emotional responses, boundaries, and patterns of connection, helping them develop greater safety, awareness, and choice in relationships.
Adolescent Therapy
We provide therapy for adolescents and teenagers navigating anxiety, neuroduversity, low mood, identity questions, relationships, family We provide therapy for adolescents and teenagers navigating anxiety, low mood, identity questions, relationships, family difficulties, and the pressures of growing up. Our adolescent work is delivered by three therapists with many years of experience supporting young people across different settings, including schools, specialist services, and private practice. This breadth of experience allows us to work carefully with the complexity of adolescence and to meet each young person where they are.
Art Therapy
Our art therapy work is led by two highly experienced art therapists with specialist training in using creative processes to support emotional expression and psychological understanding. Art therapy can be helpful for adults, adolescents, and young people who find it difficult to put experiences into words, or who want a different way of exploring feelings, trauma, identity, and relationships.
The focus is not on artistic skill, but on using materials and images as a way to think, reflect, and communicate within a safe therapeutic relationship.
Autism-Informed Therapy
We provide autism-informed therapy that recognises and respects neurodivergent ways of thinking, relating, and experiencing the world. Our therapists work adaptively, without trying to pathologise difference, supporting autistic clients to explore identity, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and the challenges of navigating a neurotypical world.
ADHD Support
We offer therapy for adults and young people with ADHD, focusing on emotional regulation, self-understanding, relationships, and the impact of ADHD on daily life. Our therapists work with clients to explore strengths and challenges, reduce shame, and develop practical and relational strategies that support wellbeing, identity, and confidence.
Women’s Mental Health
Therapy for women at Heathwell addresses a wide range of experiences, including fertility, pregnancy, birth trauma, parenting, menopause, body image, burnout, and the emotional weight of caregiving roles. The work is grounded in an understanding of how gendered experiences shape mental health, creating space to explore identity, loss, anger, and change with care and respect.
Male Mental Health
Our work with men creates space to explore anxiety, depression, anger, emotional disconnection, relationship difficulties, and identity concerns. Therapists support men in reflecting on experiences that may be difficult to articulate, including challenges around intimacy, fatherhood, work, and life transitions, helping build emotional awareness and clarity.
Older Adults Therapy
Work with older adults focuses on later-life transitions, loss, ageing, changing relationships, and questions of identity and meaning. Therapy offers space to reflect on life experiences, process grief, and adapt to change, supporting thoughtful and respectful therapeutic work in later life.
Domestic Abuse Support
Therapeutic support is available for individuals affected by emotional, psychological, or relational abuse. The work focuses on creating safety, understanding experiences, rebuilding trust in oneself, and regaining clarity and agency, whether abuse is current or part of the past.
