Arran's approach and qualifications
Arran’s therapeutic approach is grounded in psychosynthesis, a holistic form of psychotherapy that helps people explore not just what’s going wrong, but what’s possible. Psychosynthesis recognises that we all have different parts within us, some that may be wounded, stuck, or in conflict, and it helps bring these parts into greater harmony.
This approach looks at both past experiences and future potential. It can involve exploring childhood wounds, inner criticism, emotional blocks, and identity struggles, while also working towards meaning, purpose, and growth. Psychosynthesis helps clients reconnect with their values, strengthen their sense of self, and live in a way that feels more authentic and whole.
Arran’s work is shaped by a strong interest in the body–mind connection. He supports clients in exploring how disconnection from the body may underlie emotional distress, and how re-establishing this connection can support healing and personal integration.
His practice is influenced by the works of Robert Bly, James Hillman, Stephen Porges, John Bowlby, and Nick Duffell, as well as cross-cultural perspectives on identity and relationship.
Specialist areas
Arran works with a wide range of issues, with particular focus on:
Couples therapy – Helping partners understand relational patterns, improve communication, and rebuild trust.
Men’s mental health – Facilitating honest conversations around masculinity, emotional expression, and relational depth.
Early childhood experiences – Exploring developmental influences on adult relationships, identity, and emotional regulation.
Existential concerns – Supporting clients in navigating crises of meaning, purpose, and self-definition.
Embodiment and somatic awareness – Reconnecting clients with the psychological significance of bodily experience.
Group work and facilitation
Arran has extensive experience leading therapeutic groups, particularly men’s groups and relational process groups. He also teaches and mentors in psychosynthesis-based approaches, helping others develop their skills in working with emotional and group dynamics.
He has facilitated group and individual sessions through organisations such as Body & Soul, the Centre for Gender Psychology, and several London-based universities. His work is informed by a deep respect for cultural diversity and a commitment to supporting meaningful relational change.
