Marcia’s specialisms and approach

Marcia works therapeutically with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, offering a warm, culturally sensitive and collaborative approach. Her integrative practice brings together psychodynamic therapy, humanistic and person centred work, cognitive behavioural methods, mindfulness and creative therapeutic techniques. Her work is grounded in attachment theory and informed by extensive experience across social care, clinical family work and school based therapeutic roles.

Marcia offers a therapeutic space that prioritises emotional safety, understanding and steady progress. She supports clients in making sense of their experiences, strengthening emotional regulation and developing confidence, clarity and self connection. Her approach is responsive to each person’s pace and shaped around their individual circumstances and relational history.

Marcia is based in our Blackheath clinic and online and offers therapy to clients across Lewisham, Greenwich, and the wider South London area.

Work with children

Marcia supports children through play, metaphor, story, sand tray and creative art, creating a therapeutic environment where children can express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. These methods help children communicate feelings and experiences that may be hard to put into words. Her work focuses on emotional regulation, behaviour understanding, confidence, identity development and helping children feel more secure during periods of transition, family change or relational stress.

Work with adolescents

Marcia works with adolescents who are navigating identity questions, emotional overwhelm, school pressures, friendship and relationship challenges and the impact of trauma or family conflict. She offers a steady, respectful and non judgemental space where young people can explore their experiences without feeling misunderstood or criticised. Her approach helps adolescents understand the roots of their feelings, build healthier coping strategies and develop a stronger sense of emotional clarity and self trust.

Work with adults

Marcia supports adults who are dealing with trauma, stress, relational difficulties, separation, loss, parenting challenges and major life transitions. Her integrative approach helps adults understand long standing patterns, make sense of emotional reactions and develop clearer boundaries, confidence and self awareness. Sessions focus on emotional stability, reflection and practical skills that support clients in navigating relationships and daily life with more clarity and grounding.

Work with couples and families

Marcia supports couples experiencing communication difficulties, emotional distance, recurring conflict or complex relational stress. In her work with families, she draws on systemic thinking, trauma understanding and her extensive background in social care to help families improve connection, communication and emotional safety. Her strengths based approach supports each member of the couple or family to feel heard, understood and able to engage in healthier patterns of relating.

Marcia’s specialist areas include:

Trauma and complex trauma
Marcia has significant experience as a trauma informed practitioner. She has provided trauma consultations and clinical guidance to social workers, supported children and adults affected by long term trauma and delivered training to professionals working with both childhood and adult material. Her approach emphasises safety, attunement and regulation.

Attachment and early relational experiences
Her psychodynamic and family based training is rooted in attachment theory. Marcia helps clients understand how early relationships shape beliefs, emotional responses and patterns within present day relationships. This work supports deep insight, stability and the development of healthier relational dynamics.

Looked after children and care experienced young people
She has extensive experience supporting children and young people in foster care, care proceedings and transitions between home and care. Marcia understands the emotional, relational and systemic pressures involved and offers stabilising, reflective and culturally aware therapeutic support.

Family court related stress and safeguarding contexts
Marcia has worked within multiple roles involving assessments, Section 20 considerations, care proceedings and therapeutic input during legal processes. She supports parents, carers and young people navigating safeguarding concerns, court involvement and complex professional networks.

Parenting support and parent infant bonding
She has worked within perinatal mental health services supporting parents from pregnancy to age two. This includes early bonding, low mood, anxiety, isolation and the emotional challenges that can occur during early parenthood. Marcia helps parents build confidence, strengthen attunement and understand their emotional experience in relation to their baby.

Narcissistic abuse and domestic abuse
Marcia supports clients who have experienced controlling, coercive or emotionally abusive relationships. She offers clear psychoeducation to help clients recognise patterns of abuse and understand the impact on confidence, boundaries and self worth. Her work focuses on rebuilding emotional stability, strengthening relational clarity and supporting clients in developing safer and more empowered ways of relating.
