About This Workshop

Who This Workshop Is For

This workshop is designed for adults who have experienced confusing, invalidating or emotionally destabilising relationships and want a clearer, psychologically grounded understanding of what happened to them. It is suitable if you are currently in the relationship, have recently left or are reflecting on an experience from the past.
No prior therapy experience is required.

What We Will Cover

Over three hours, the workshop offers structured, clinically informed psychoeducation and space for reflection. The content is paced gently and allows participants to absorb information without pressure.

Understanding the Dynamics

  • how narcissistic traits affect attachment and relational patterns

  • the cycle of idealisation and devaluation

  • gaslighting and the erosion of self-trust

  • intermittent reinforcement and the development of trauma bonds

  • subtle coercive control and the gradual loss of autonomy

The Impact on You

  • how chronic invalidation shapes emotional regulation and self-perception

  • why survivors often experience confusion, guilt and self-doubt

  • how the nervous system responds to prolonged relational stress

  • fawning, hypervigilance and shutdown as adaptive survival responses

  • the cognitive effects of relational trauma such as fog, exhaustion and difficulty making decisions

Meaning Making

  • why your reactions were understandable and adaptive

  • how internal narratives become distorted in these dynamics

  • the process of rebuilding coherence, clarity and self-trust

This is a psychoeducational workshop rather than a therapy group. You are welcome to attend silently. Cameras are optional.

What You Will Take Away

  • a clearer understanding of the relational dynamics involved

  • language that helps you articulate and validate your experience

  • insight into your emotional and physiological responses

  • reduced self-blame and increased psychological clarity

  • a sense of direction for what recovery can look like

  • a more coherent narrative you can continue to build on
