George's approach and qualifications
Georges therapeutic approach is relational and pluralistic. By actively collaborating with clients, he jointly decides how to tackle the issues bringing them to therapy. His approach draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities including Humanistic and Trauma-Focusing therapies, CBT, Psychodynamic (Mentalisation TFP and Attachment informed), and LGBTQI+ Affirmative and Focusing Gender Sexual Relationship Diversity (GSRD) approaches. George creates a safe and supportive space where clients can make sense of their issues. He understands that starting therapy can feel overwhelming and works to provide an environment where clients feel understood, accepted, and empowered to navigate challenges whilst embracing their strengths.
George offers psychological therapy from London Bridge SE1, Blackheath SE3 and online.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (TFP, MBT & Attachment)
George offers psychodynamic psychotherapy, focusing on how past experiences, particularly early relationships, influence how clients think, feel, and relate to others in the present.
The work explores patterns that can feel repetitive or difficult to change, including those operating outside of conscious awareness. Through this process, clients develop a clearer understanding of emotional difficulties, improve their relationships, and build more stable and flexible ways of coping and connecting.
He works primarily using Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), examining recurring relational patterns, including those that emerge within the therapeutic relationship. He also integrates Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), supporting clients to better understand their own and others’ thoughts and feelings, particularly in emotionally charged situations.
A central part of the work involves attachment, exploring how early relationships shape expectations around closeness, trust, and emotional response, and supporting clients to move towards more secure and satisfying ways of relating.
George typically offers longer-term therapy, often over the course of around a year, to allow for deeper and more sustained change, although shorter-term work can be considered. Therapy begins with an initial assessment phase (usually 3 to 4 sessions), followed by a shared agreement on focus, goals, and structure, providing a clear framework for the work.
LGBTQI+ Affirmative & Gender Sexual Relationship Diversity GSRD informed care
George offers LGBTQI+ and GSRD affirmative therapy that recognises the complexity and diversity of identity, relationships, and lived experience.
He has a particular interest in working with gay men, including those navigating questions around identity, intimacy, relationships, and belonging. This may include experiences of minority stress, internalised stigma, difficulties with emotional expression, or challenges in forming and sustaining relationships.
His work moves beyond general affirmation, focusing on how identity intersects with early relational patterns, attachment, and wider social context. Therapy provides a space to explore these areas in depth, without assumption or pathologising, supporting clients to develop clarity, resilience, and a more integrated sense of self.
Men’s Mental Health
George works with men navigating a range of psychological and relational difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, identity questions, and relationship challenges.
He understands how expectations around masculinity can shape emotional development, often limiting how feelings are recognised, expressed, or even consciously experienced. For many men, this can lead to difficulties with emotional regulation, intimacy, or a sense of disconnection from themselves and others.
His work focuses on exploring these patterns in depth, including how they may have developed within early relationships and been reinforced over time. This often includes working with areas such as anger, withdrawal, over-functioning, or difficulty tolerating vulnerability, particularly where these patterns affect relationships.
Drawing on a psychodynamic and attachment-informed approach, George supports clients to better understand their internal world, including conflicting thoughts and emotions, and how these influence behaviour and relational dynamics. This process helps expand emotional awareness and flexibility, rather than simply trying to manage or suppress distress.
He also works with men navigating questions around identity, meaning, and direction, particularly during periods of transition, loss, or uncertainty.
For gay men, this work may additionally involve exploring the impact of minority stress, internalised stigma, or complex experiences of belonging and intimacy, integrating these with broader questions of identity and relationships.
Therapy provides a space to engage with these areas more directly, supporting the development of a more coherent sense of self and more satisfying ways of relating to others.
Dual Diagnoses and Complex Presentations
George has extensive experience working with clients who present with dual diagnoses, where more than one mental health difficulty occurs at the same time, such as anxiety alongside depression, trauma with OCD, or ADHD with emotional regulation difficulties. He understands that psychological challenges often overlap and influence one another, and that effective therapy requires addressing the whole picture rather than focusing on a single label.
His integrative and trauma-informed approach allows for flexibility and depth, drawing on different therapeutic models to support each client’s unique constellation of experiences. By exploring how difficulties interact, George helps clients gain insight, improve emotional regulation, and build resilience, fostering meaningful and lasting change.
Anxiety, Depression & Other Mental Health Challenges
George has extensive experience working with individuals across a range of mental health presentations, including anxiety, depression, OCD, attachment issues and trauma. He understands that mental health challenges rarely exist in isolation and takes a holistic approach to understanding how different aspects of a client’s life interconnect. Through a process of psychological formulation, George works collaboratively with clients to understand their mental health challenges by examining the bigger picture of their lives. This involves exploring thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, alongside personal history and current circumstances. Together, you will identify patterns and triggers that contribute to difficulties, developing a clear and personalised plan for addressing issues and working towards positive change.
Understanding that anxiety and depression can manifest differently for each individual, particularly within the context of neurodiversity, gender identity, or relationship dynamics, his approach is tailored to each client’s unique experience. George ensures that therapy feels relevant, meaningful, and empowering. Whether you’e experiencing anxiety, persistent worry, low mood, or emotional regulation difficulties, George provides a supportive environment where you can explore these challenges without judgement
Neurodiversity (Autism &ADHD)
Whether self-diagnosed, seeking guidance through the diagnostic process, or already diagnosed, George works with neurodiverse individuals, particularly those with autism and ADHD, using neuro-affirmative approaches. Autistic and ADHD individuals are more likely to experience co-existing difficulties such as anxiety and depression. George focuses on understanding and celebrating neurodiversity whilst providing support that respects and values each client’s unique experiences and perspectives. Although George does not offer diagnostic assessments, he can use screening tools to support individuals in pursuing diagnostic referrals. His goal is to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, accepted, and empowered to navigate challenges whilst embracing their strengths.
