Integrative Therapy at Heathwell
ABOUT INTEGRATIVE THERAPY
Integrative therapy brings together ideas and ways of working from different therapeutic approaches, adapting the therapy to your needs and circumstances. It recognises that people experience difficulties differently, and that what helps one person may not suit another.
You may want to understand how earlier experiences affect your relationships, find ways to manage anxiety or explore feelings that are difficult to put into words. An integrative therapist considers these needs together, drawing on their training to develop a way of working that feels relevant to you.
Integrative therapy can support both individuals and couples. For couples, it can bring together an exploration of relationship patterns with practical work on communication, conflict and intimacy, depending on the therapist’s training.
A WAY OF WORKING THAT RESPONDS TO YOU
Sometimes you need help making sense of how you feel; at other times, you want to work out what to do differently. Integrative therapy allows room for both, connecting understanding with changes you can explore in everyday life.
For example, you might seek help because you struggle to set boundaries. Together, you could explore where your fear of disappointing others began, notice what happens emotionally when you try to say no, and practise expressing your needs more clearly.
The approaches used will vary between therapists. Some bring together psychodynamic, humanistic and relational perspectives, while others also draw on cognitive, behavioural or body-based work. Your therapist should be able to explain how they work and discuss how this relates to what you are looking for.
What can integrative therapy help with?
People seek integrative therapy for a range of concerns, including:
Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed.
Depression, low mood or emotional disconnection.
Low self-esteem and persistent self-criticism.
Relationship difficulties and recurring conflict.
Difficulties expressing needs or setting boundaries.
The impact of trauma and difficult earlier experiences.
Grief, loss and major life changes.
Questions about identity, belonging and direction.
You do not need to know which therapeutic approach you need before you begin. An initial conversation can help you explain what is happening and consider whether the therapist’s experience and way of working suit you.
Integrative therapy at Heathwell
Heathwell brings together integrative therapists with different training backgrounds and areas of expertise, offering a choice of ways to approach your concerns. We provide in-person therapy at our clinic in Blackheath Village, within easy reach of Greenwich and Lewisham, alongside online appointments.
Each therapist’s profile explains their experience, specialist interests and how they work. Once you have found someone you would like to speak with, let Heathwell know and we will connect you with them to discuss an initial consultation. If you are unsure where to begin, we can help you explore the options.
